Take a Walk with Enda O’Doherty & Pieta House

This Saturday saw Waterford native & local teacher Enda O’Doherty set off from Belfast to Waterford to help Pieta House and all those affected by suicide in Ireland. Enda’s walk will see him cover over 300Km over eight days, all while carrying a washing machine on his back.

Enda’s journey started in a little café in Waterford, and has taken him to the European Parliament to discuss Mental Health services with Cindy O’Connor, COO at Pieta House, and he has been astounded at all the shows of support he has received. This walk will see him stop off at several towns and villages along the way, and fundraising events are being organised in each to help Pieta House open a support centre in Waterford City. The final leg of the fundraising will be taking place in Kilkenny as he departs on the 14th for his home town.

Roughly ten people take their lives in Ireland each week, and one in four of us will suffer from low mental health at some point in our lives. The work Enda is doing to remove the stigma around mental illness, and the awareness he is raising for the charity is inspirational, most familys in Ireland have been affected by suicide at some point in their lives.

Everyone at Swift Print wishes you all the best Enda, we’re delighted to  be able to support and sponsor you on the way, good luck on the road, and keep in mind there are four steps to achievement;

Plan purposefully.

Prepare prayerfully.

Proceed positively.

Pursue persistently.
